Jerusalem WWTP West (Soreq) is operated since 1998 by the municipal company JWPE (Jerusalem Wastewater Purification Enterprise) serving 600,000 population and is third by size in Israel. The plant is in retrofit process to enhance capacity by 30% and improve effluent quality to comply with new regulations.

The upgrade includes capacity enhancement of the bio-treatment and bio nutrient removal (BNR) process within the existing basins. The works involve limited civil engineering and extensive replacement of all the equipment and its control and electric systems. The activity is performed in a phased manner - one of each 4 modules consisting bioreactor and two clarifiers each year, at the dry season.

Project management includes procurement through 5 different tenders, main contractor, design and execution changes, site supervision and management reporting.
